Position Overview:

Kidspace Children’s Museum, a leading nonprofit cultural institution devoted to excellence in play-based learning, seeks enthusiastic, part-time musical performers to lead our summer sing-along activities. The Musician/Performer will be a featured player in interactive campfire-themed shows for families and provide strolling, atmospheric interactions across our 3.5-acre outdoor campus. Ability to sing and play acoustic instruments, such as guitar, ukulele, banjo, or harmonica, is required.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate interactive campfire sing-alongs with children and families both in scheduled programs as well as strolling, atmospheric interactions
• Engage with guests in a safe, friendly, and professional manner
• Provide a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for kid and guests
• Answer guest inquiries and provide museum information.
• Actively contributes to our culture of inclusivity, welcome, collaboration, and play
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Flexibility, a willingness to learn and grow and a can-do attitude
• Ability to sing and perform to small and large audiences using a guitar or other acoustic instrument
• Willingness and ability to partner with other Kidspace staff to lead a campfire sing along experience
• Experience working with kids and families strongly preferred
• Available at least three days a week for up to 4-6 performances a day, including weekends and holidays, and some evenings
• Comfort with verbal and written communication in the English language, bilingual in Spanish and/or Mandarin a plus
• Kidspace is a largely outdoor facility; exposure to outdoor elements is required.

Location and Benefits:

This is a part-time, in-person, non-exempt position in Pasadena, CA. It requires availability at least 16 hours per week, availability on at least one weekend day, and pays an hourly wage of $17.00. Benefits include an employee assistance program and employee discount.
