Job Description

We’re looking for creative book cover and book layout designers available for steady freelance work. We work with our contractors long-term, develop good working relationships and work as a team to develop the best and most efficient ways to consistently create high-quality work for our authors.

Qualifications

We need professionals with book design and formatting experience. We expect our designers to be experts and responsive to our team so if there is an issue with the file we can work together on a solution efficiently. We’ll provide our specifications and style guide to follow but the must-have qualifications are:

• Expert experience with InDesign tools for efficient formatting of books (ie, paragraph/character styles, table of contents, baseline grid, indexing, text variables, footnote/endnotes, etc.).
• Technical skills with InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator
• Experience producing and preparing files for print
• Knowledge of preparing files for the KDP and/or IngramSpark platform a plus but not required

Position requires the designer to communicate with our Project Managers on the production team who will be in direct contact with the author/customer.
