Position Overview: Freelance Brand Designer

Contract Period: 3 months

Anticipated Hours Per Week: 20-30 hours

Location: Fully remote

The Designer will report directly to our Brand Project Manager, and work across both our brands: Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon and Dinnerly. You will be responsible for translating creative briefs into exceptional design work that aligns with each of our brand’s positioning for all design needs (printed & online).

Responsibilities:

  • Refresh and maintain our brand identity guidelines, ensuring consistent implementation across all marketing materials, including digital platforms, print collateral, packaging, and other touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and brand team to understand and translate brand strategy into visual concepts and designs that effectively convey our brand values and messaging.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency and alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Translate creative briefs and visual concepts into high caliber design executions across online and offline asset needs, including some packaging design.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of our target audience and their preferences, ensuring that design choices resonate with our customer base.
  • Create engaging and visually appealing designs for various marketing campaigns, including social media assets and ads, emails, newsletters, OOH advertisements, Landing Pages, Fliers, Direct Mailers, Packaging needs and more.
  • Use feedback and data to continuously improve and iterate on designs, incorporating user insights and best practices.
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, on time and to a high caliber meeting stakeholder specifications.
  • Be a key contributor in creative / brand workshop sessions by participating and contributing innovative design ideas to enhance the brand’s visual identity.
  • Conduct research and stay up to date with industry trends to ensure our brand remains relevant and competitive in the market.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) working as a Brand Designer or in a similar role, preferably within a B2C company.
  • Experience with brand design systems, with strong typography, composition and messaging hierarchy.
  • Ability to verbalize rationale behind design decisions- data based approach and a strong understanding of how design work can play a key role within performance marketing
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills: ability to verbalize design knowledge and technical principles in an engaging and tangible way to people from both creative and non-creative backgrounds
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative suite, Figma, Google Suite
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, including brand identity, marketing collateral, digital assets, and other relevant work.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, layout, and composition.
  • Time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
  • High level of craftsmanship, organization skills and detail-oriented problem solver.
  • A pragmatic, flexible, team player, with no-ego
  • Background in food media is a plus!
