Background:

MIT delta ν is an educational accelerator and the capstone entrepreneurial experience for MIT entrepreneurs. The goal of the program is to help the teams accelerate their growth in building viable, sustainable ventures before they launch into the real world. We also prioritize helping the individuals that make up those teams, become strong entrepreneurs. Nearly 140 teams and over 500 entrepreneurs have participated in the program, now in its 11th year. Post delta v, many teams have gone on to raise additional funds and continued to grow exponentially, while others have participated in additional accelerators such as Y Combinator and Techstars.

Job Description:

MIT delta ν is seeking a talented and self-motivated part-time Graphic Designer to join our team as a contractor. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to collaborate with entrepreneurs, using your graphic design skills to elevate their innovative ventures. Your creative vision and expertise will play a vital role in shaping the visual identity and communication materials of various projects.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with up to seventeen MIT start-up teams in a cross-functional setting to understand business requirements and user needs, and translate them into exceptional front-end designs
• Create captivating visual assets, including logos, branding materials, marketing collateral, presentation decks, and digital and print media
• Develop and maintain design guidelines and brand standards to ensure consistency across different projects
• Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and iterate designs to meet project objectives.
• Stay updated with design trends and industry best practices, bringing innovative ideas and fresh perspectives to the team
• Deliver high-quality design assets within designated timelines and project constraints

Qualifications:

• Successful candidates will fit many, if not all, of the following criteria:
• Proven experience as a Graphic Designer, with a focus on branding, marketing materials, and visual communication
• Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar software
• Strong portfolio showcasing previous graphic design work, including a diverse range of projects and styles
• Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout composition
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and ideas
• Detail-oriented with a keen eye for aesthetics, composition, and visual storytelling
• Self-motivated and able to work independently while adhering to project deadlines
• Familiarity with entrepreneurship or startup culture is a plus

Additional information:

• This is a part-time position approximately 20 hours per week starting as soon as possible until September 8th, 2023
• The role is a hybrid position, with the in-person component based out of Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA or downtown Manhattan.

Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
