Description:

We’re looking for a freelance motion graphics designer that can work in the full Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop) and that understands how AE and Premiere work together. They’ll be working with editors to produce marketing and promotional videos for the web and social. VFX cleanup, greenscreen, and roto experience are helpful (tracking, set extension, etc).

Our client is looking for a motion graphic designer with top-notch motion design and animation skills to create rich, compelling, and engaging video content to tell the Northern Trust story. In this role, you will produce branded multi-channel culture and thought-leadership content pieces, sizzle reels, explainer-style videos, and motion templates for use in future video projects and series.

The freelance motion graphics designer will collaborate with our creative team to design and execute motion graphic content. Candidates must be motion minded in their design process and be able to build and animate design assets within our animation and editing software for a streamlined production process and efficiency. They’ll be working with editors to produce marketing and promotional videos for the web and social. VFX cleanup, greenscreen, and roto experience is helpful (tracking, set extension, etc.).

The position reports directly to the department’s Multimedia Team Lead.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Collaborate with the Multimedia Team Lead and the Creative Director to develop and execute campaign deliverables.
• Research motion and design trends to translate into rich motion graphics stories that align with the business unit’s and Northern Trust’s objectives and standards.
• Detail-oriented and highly developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated expert understanding of typography, color, and layout as it pertains to video across various video platforms and social media channels.
• Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (I.e., After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Ability to take brand books; style guides; storyboards; scripts and translate them into impactful motion graphics.
• Ability to work autonomously and contribute required project deliverables to support large-scale video initiatives?
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with supervisors and other designers.
• Meticulous organization of assets and projects
• Ability to convert motion projects into templates, mogrts for use across other video projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Motion Graphics or another relevant field.
• Minimum of 10+ years of Motion Graphics/Animation experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (notably After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator).
• Experience with 2D animation applications.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced work environment.
• Familiarity with Workfront is a plus.
• Ability to explain your creative decisions and handle feedback on work products.
• Must be calm under pressure and can troubleshoot production issues with ease.
