Job Description:
The Music Director will work closely with the Director to understand how songs and music serve the show’s story, setting, drama and emotional context. They will be responsible for teaching music to high school aged students during the rehearsal process and evaluate student’s singing abilities during the rehearsal process.
Role and Responsibilities
- Report to Supervisor on all matters;
- Care for the safety and wellbeing of all students in accordance with MET handbook and policies.
- Be present and available for auditions, production meetings and music rehearsals.
- Teach vocal music and ensure alignment with recorded accompaniment tracks.
- Set an example with regard to professional comportment and consideration of other staff and as an outward facing representative of the MET community
- Collaborate with Director and Choreographer in casting.
- Lead vocal warmups.
Additional Notes
Some at home preparation is required, rehearsals are in person and on site.
MET also required its employees and contractors who regularly come into contact with minors to obtain fingerprinting and background checks. MET will cover all associated costs as long as the employee/contractors goes to MET’s preferred vendor.
Schedule
Auditions September 5, 2023 6p-9p; September 9, 2023 10a-1p
Rehearsals begin the week of September 11
Rehearsals Tuesday, Thursday 4:30p - 6:30p; Sundays 3p-6p
*Music Director will not be scheduled for every rehearsal.
Show dates: January 12 & 13 at 7 PM, January 13 & 14 at 2:30 PM
Job Requirements
- B.A. or B.F.A in Music Education, Theatre, or similar major.
- 2-5 years of theatre/music education experience.
- Must be able to read music and play the piano.
- Must be able to provide their own reliable transportation.
Job Preferences:
- Experience as a choreographer.
- M.A. or M.F.A. in Music Education, Theatre or similar major.
