Junior Freelance Industrial Designer
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior Freelance Industrial Designer with great design taste who is passionate about design. Our Industrial Design team is highly skilled, and creates fantastic work, but is currently overloaded with time consuming daily tasks. The chosen freelancer(s) will play a critical role in helping to reduce that workload for our full-time team, assisting with day-to-day industrial design work while contributing to the success of a growing small business that handles a high volume of projects.
The ideal candidate should possess strong conceptual and technical skills, as well as succeed in multitasking, maintaining punctuality, and communicating clearly while delivering excellent design.
The Junior Freelance Industrial Designer will report to the Creative Director, and will work closely with our full-time Industrial Designers, in addition to interacting with our Graphic Design team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D digital models, renderings, structural packaging, and mock-ups.
- Product rendering in support of our Graphic Design team (assist in rendering realistic imagery for packaging and merchandising).
- Assist in ideating prints and patterns (CMF) for our newest brand partnerships.
- Assist in the brainstorming process for product development/iteration (generating multiple sketches and ideas for a product from a single prompt).
- Identify and apply best design practices, methods, tools, and approaches.
- Assist in the development of materials for client presentations.
Ideal Qualifications/Skills:
- BA or BFA in Industrial/Product Design.
- 1-2 years of professional industrial design experience.
- Strong 3D modeling skills (particularly KeyShot and SolidWorks).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Photoshop and Illustrator).
- Familiarity with designing products while keeping cost and client margin in mind.
- Solid knowledge of brand strategy (i.e. understanding and translating the aspirations of a brand).
- Experience in conducting research and competitive analysis.
- Packaging and/or graphic design experience is a plus.
- Comfortable working with quick turnarounds/tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of the creative process.
- Ideation, brainstorming, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
