Technical Animator
We are looking for a Technical Animator with a passion for creating and maintaining the animation and workflow solutions for a AAA title. You will create animations of the highest quality and in-game functionality, collaborate with other departments such as Design, Motion Edit, Tech Art and Engineering. This role will focus on the Animation team’s technical challenges and solutions, contribute to the unified goal of crafting animations that are functional, responsive, fluid and will tie into cinematics and story.
Responsibilities:
- Creation and integration of AAA quality animations that reflect the game design goals and systems
- Be the technical representative for the Animation team
- Work closely with the animators, tech artists, and riggers to identify workflow inefficiencies and pain points
- Troubleshoot animation issues across multiple DCC packages
- Work at the highest level, technically and aesthetically
- Establish best practices and methodologies for DCC animation workflow
- Build/Maintain relevant usage documentation
- Be proactive, assist with troubleshooting workflows, rigging and pipeline issues
- Effectively connect with animators, engineers and design, to give and accept feedback
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless workflow to game integration
- Assist outsourcing partners with same technical animation support
Requirements & Skills:
- Experience working with motion capture data and hand-key animation in the game industry with an emphasis on technical workflow knowledge
- High level of technical working knowledge of Maya and MotionBuilder
- Base level knowledge of animation systems such as blueprints, state machines, blend spaces and motion matching
- Working knowledge of scripting
- Demo reel showing a solid understanding of animation principles, while including gameplay
- Experience in gameplay animation editing including blending, cycles and layering
- A passion for making games and the enthusiasm to make the best
- Strong technical problem-solving and interpersonal skills

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $70,000 - $114,000.
