Position Summary:

The News Desk Assistant is responsible for seeking, gathering and highlighting weather content for multiple platforms across Weather Group Television LLC. This includes TV, Pattrn, and Local Now. The position requires you to work closely with network managers and producers. You must possess solid editorial judgment, excellent communication skills and strong social media newsgathering abilities.

The desk assistant will confirm authenticity of social content and they will need to identify the rights holder and contact them to secure permission for all platforms.

In addition, you will be responsible for identifying climate and environmental story angles, and how to best execute them across all platforms. You will also review and select appropriate content provided by news agencies and stringers. The News Desk Assistant should be forward-thinking and a self-starter.

A minimum of two years experience with a news organization is essential.
