Job Summary:

Seeking a computer scientist/programmer who will develop interfaces, release of information reports, database storage and documentation of all development for a research project that is aimed to support molecular testing for respiratory virus surveillance efforts. This is a temporary, part-time (.50 FTE) position with an estimated 2-year term.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Applicant will be responsible for storage and potential processing/data basing of raw sequencing results. Keep up to date with the best practices for variant processing. - 25%
  • Applicant will document and test the system, produce, and maintain technical documentation, and troubleshoot and maintain applications. - 25%
  • Applicant will automate sending collated sequencing results with patient metadata required for reporting to South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) - 20%
  • Applicant will automate reporting of the information released to the MUSC Health Information Management Service to comply with Disclosure Accounting as required in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) update in the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act - 15%
  • Applicant will assist with streamlining redcap data entry for integration with RDW data and preparation of sequencing manifest files - 10%
  • Applicant will document hours spent and work completed on each of the above goals on a weekly basis - 5%

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and two years work experience in computer programming. An associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.
