Contract: 6 Months Contract

This is a fantastic opportunity offering a highly varied scope of responsibilities and the opportunity to grow your career in a residential developer with exposure to senior management and decision-making responsibilities. The offer to the successful Design Manager will be a salary up to ÂŁ500 per day (depending on experience) plus a fantastic bonus and flexible/hybrid working.

The Design Manager will ideally have the following attributes:
  • Hold a recognized Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or design related degree or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the industry Experience across high end residential design or similar.
  • Excellent ability to execute a project from concept to completion Knowledge of UK building regulations and joinery construction.
  • A strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, BIM and SketchUp is essential good team and project timeline management skills.

The Design Manager role will involve:
  • Work collaboratively with the architectural and interior design team supporting the construction site team when needed.
  • To assist with hand sketches, drawings, schedules Coordinating interior architecture team’s deliverables at each stage of the project and checking the drawings of nominated sub-contractors.

Job Description

As the Design Manager you will report directly to the Director of the Company and have responsibility for running your department. The project types are unique and bespoke. The scope of the role will cover:

  • Leading and ensuring design management is consistent across all phases.
  • Ensuring design management function is aligned with other PMC functional targets.
  • Ensuring that reporting and progress reporting are aligned with PMC reporting requirements.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on consultant’s and/or contractor design progress.
  • Ensuring designs are developed in compliance with project briefs.
  • Ensuring consultants are fulfilling contractual obligations for scope and deliverables.
  • Ensuring design consultants are working to ensure projects are on time, and on budget.
  • Ensuring BIM management is integral to the programme and ongoing.
  • Ensuring scope change is monitored and managed in accordance with change protocols.
  • Ensuring client and 3rd party reviews are scheduled and aligned with the programme.
  • Ensuring client and statutory Approvals are built into the programme.
  • Leading constructability reviews are scheduled and participated in.
  • Supporting procurement in preparation of RFP/ITT packages.
  • Evaluation of consultant variations and claims in connection with design.
  • Review consultant and/or contractor design submissions and progress reports.
  • Oversight and participation in key design and technical review workshops.
  • Challenging and supporting the design teams to ensure design solutions are optimized.
  • Utilizing company resources efficiently to accomplish assigned work.
  • Identifying and managing design-associated risks, mitigation strategies, and/or escalation.
  • Consultant appointment and management.

As a Design Manager, you will oversee the design process, ensuring compliance with all contract requirements while optimizing cost effectiveness. Coordination of information will be key to delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting client expectations.

The Successful Applicant

As a strong applicant for this position you will:

  • Ideally have an architecture or engineering background although this is not essential.
  • Possess a background delivering residential development projects to completion.
  • Have excellent organisation skills and good attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • You must have the right to work in the UK.
