Bishop Dunne Part-time Sports Information and Social Media Specialist

Are you interested in sports and have a talent for documenting athletic events via photography, print, and social networks? Do you have experience with videography, photography, and a desire to create interesting website content and social media? Bishop Dunne Catholic School seeks a part-time Sports Information and Social Media Specialist for the 2023-2024 academic year.

General Duties

The Sports Information and Social Media Specialist is responsible for communicating all aspects relating to Bishop Dunne Catholic School Athletics. The Sports Information and Social Media Specialist will oversee the school’s athletic social media accounts and assist with maintaining the vision of the athletics department’s website. Reporting to the Director of External Relations, the Sports Information and Social Media Specialist works closely with the Director of Athletics to ensure all material is presented consistently in a way that positively reflects the entire school, the athletic accomplishments of Bishop Dunne Catholic School student-athletes and coaches.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required with 2+ years’ relevant experience. Experience working in an athletic department, preferably within the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (Adobe, MSWord, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Social Media posting experience on Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn/Instagram, YouTube - 3 years minimum experience
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign)
  • Advanced skills in video creation and editing (Premiere Cut/Final Cut)
  • Photography (still photography, live events including sports, theater, meetings)
  • Streaming knowledge
  • Ability to maintain and update a website through a content management system (CMS)
  • A prominent level of interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy; the ability to provide customer service with grace is necessary.
  • Interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must have excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills. AP style writing a plus.
  • Continuous attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofreading materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated the ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. Must be able to discern between competing priorities.

Specific Duties

  • Responsible for the content and daily maintenance of the athletics website (bdcs.org). Consults Webmaster for website design. Oversees the content and presentation of the Bishop Dunne Athletics pages and all individual sports pages.
  • Works with coaches on any scores and appropriate statistics needed for local media outlets promptly.
  • Creates recaps of Falcon athletic competitions and composes stories highlighting success within the Falcon Athletic department, including weekly article submissions to Falconer.
  • Creates official Dunne Athletics press releases that communicate important news and updates within the department.
  • Manages the updates and presentation of the Athletic Department’s social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Works with coaches to ensure all sports are equally represented amongst the accounts.
  • Works with Graphic Designer and/or templated program (Gipper) to create approved graphics to support Falcon Athletics social media content and bdcs.org content.
  • Manages the population of all athletic teams’ schedules and team rosters on bdcs.org.
  • Press inquiries and press releases for Bishop Dunne Athletics must be referred to the Director of External Relations, who in turn will coordinate participants from athletics, as necessary.
  • Assists with the design processing of all athletic signage displayed throughout the school.
  • Produces athletic videos throughout campus that promote Bishop Dunne Catholic School to prospective and current families, alumni, donors, and the community.
  • Posts regular content to all Bishop Dunne Catholic School social media accounts, monitors engagement, analyzes results, and responds to inquiries in a timely manner with Director of External Relations approval.
