POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Metropolitan Crime Commission is hiring a part-time employee to work 15-20 hours per week in our offices during normal business hours in support of our social media. Due to the nature of our work, this position is in-person only.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
I. SOCIAL MEDIA
- Help manage an array of communication strategies designed to engage the public, media outlets, and local community members.
- Create posts, stories, videos, and other content for the MCC’s social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Assist with the weekly crime bulletin and email blast using Constant Contact
- Establish new ideas to grow our social media (e.g., Tik Tok channel) and mailing list
- Update the media and other content on the MCC’s website
- Track the growth of MCC’s social media platforms (i.e., post engagement and followers)
II. MISCELLANEOUS
- Attend and assist with MCC special events and functions
- Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong writing ability, people skills, extensive computer skills especially using Microsoft Office applications and Canva, graphic design abilities, and spreadsheet software
- Some experience with Java, HTML, CSS, or other general programming languages for web design
- A bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, political science, social science, communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, or related fields
