Contract: Part Time, Contractor

Position Summary

This position is a limited duration, contract-only position that will begin in October 2023, with potential to last until June 2025. The candidate will work with the WCC Chair, Board, and Program Manager to communicate to the public via social media on various neighborhood topics including: WCC meetings, programs, Art Walks, Public Health matters, upcoming WCAT art, Volunteer and Community engagement topics and more.

Position: Social Media Manager - Independent Contractor

Reports to: WCC Program Manager

Compensation: Up to $25.00 - $32.00 an hour, dependant on experience

  • Current best practices for Social Media Management

  • Whiteaker neighborhood and residents
  • Graphic design
  • Google Drive & Dropbox

Essential Job Duties

Graphic Design

  • Creates graphics in accordance with WCC Brand Guide (leveraging your own photos or photos from the WCC Dropbox) to use for social media communication, event promotion, WCC Volunteer and community engagement opportunities.
  • For meeting promotions and WCC events, include the logo, name, date, time, and location on the graphic.

Promote Upcoming Meetings

  • Create graphics for upcoming meetings that include the logo, name, date, time, and location per the social media calendar (below).
  • Promotes monthly WCC General, Board, Public Health & Safety, and any other committee meetings.
  • Publicizes upcoming WCC Disaster Resiliency program on social media and maintains the most up to date information for program roll out.
  • Promotes current Board and Committee projects and initiatives.
  • Promotes current Public Health campaign ads (WCC Disaster Resiliency, etc).
  • Include agenda, zoom link, date, time, guest speakers, or any other relevant information.
  • Use provided template schedule for meeting promotion and the google calendar “WCC Social Media”

Promote Upcoming WCC Events

  • Create a Facebook event on the WCC page using provided template and update as needed
  • Create promotional graphics with event info to share throughout the month for the upcoming event.
  • Include links to sign up for events, volunteer opportunities, etc.

Promote other topics as needed

  • Current WCAT projects and Calls to Artists
  • Last Friday Art Walk map and featured artist
  • Last Friday Art Walk event on WCC Facebook page
  • Highlight of public art pieces in the Whiteaker
  • Current WCC projects and press releases
  • Highlight recent guest speaker presentation from WCC general meeting
  • Introduce WCC Board members
  • Promote WCC website and resource page
  • Promote WCC Artist Directory
  • Public Health campaign ads

Essential Job Duties…continued

Social Media Management

  • Post daily to both IG and FB at the same time strategically by using IG insights.
  • Manage social media insights and adjust posting times as necessary to better promote
  • Manage WCC Facebook + WCC and WCAT Instagram pages
  • Share WCC posts to the Whiteaker Open Neighbors Group on Facebook
  • Manage WCC Linktree for sharing links on Instagram
  • Use quality and engaging writing skills to communicate to the public
  • Using Planoly or another scheduling platform arrange the IG grid in a way that is engaging and aesthetically pleasing. Graphic, photo, graphic, etc.
  • Tag community members, board members, and businesses in posts
  • Remain active on social media by engaging with organizations, businesses, individuals, volunteers, and donors daily. This involves following active accounts, unfollowing inactive accounts, commenting regularly on new accounts, and staying active on already existing accounts.
  • Promote and elevate other organizations posts that are relevant to community action using stories.
  • Post at least 2 stories daily on the WCC IG and FB page. These could include introductions, photos, meeting times, other organizations, donors, clinic and wellness info, education etc…
  • Hide negative and harmful comments on public WCC posts
  • Manages WCC and WCAT social media accounts and groups on Instagram and Facebook
  • Uses quality and engaging writing skills to communicate to the public
  • Responds to questions in comments and direct messages in a timely manner

Paid Advertisements

  • Boost and sponsor posts as needed with set budget from the WCC
  • Communicates with Program Manager regarding budget and payment

WCC Admin

  • Attends all WCC general, Board, WCAT, and other committee meetings
  • Maintains the WCC Social Media Calendar

Neighborhood Engagement

  • Photographs community events and people to bolster WCC media assets and to supplement social media content.
  • Assists in delivery and placement of event flyers to local businesses.

Public Health & Safety Committee Third Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm

WCC Board Meetings Third Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00pm

  • General Monthly Meeting - Second Wednesdays
  • Promote meeting with Zoom link and agenda the Wednesday, Saturday, and day-of the meeting
  • Post the meeting recording the day after the meeting
  • Public Health & Safety Committee Monthly Meeting - Third Wednesdays
  • Promote meeting with Zoom link and agenda the Thursday, Sunday, and day-of the meeting
  • Post the meeting recording the day after the meeting
