Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced freelance WordPress web developer who’s equal parts technical and creative. We will look to you to build and maintain the sites we launch for our clients while up to date on the latest technologies, security challenges, and digital trends. We expect you to weigh in on UI/UX and be invested in delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients. The Basics:

You’re going to have to be a quick study. We are a boutique agency that moves quickly to help our clients. So, get ready to roll up your sleeves, learn about our clients, and get busy. We don’t expect perfection right out of the gate but look for progress. You’ll be working closely with a creative team to help, but we’ll need you to hit a stride as quickly as possible. The last thing (maybe), you’ll have to play well with others. We’re a tight-knit team, so you’ll talk to all of us during your long and storied career at our agency.

A Little Nitty Gritty:

• As a general rule we use Elementor to build websites and WPEngine for hosting. So, you should be knowledgeable about both.
• Other technical type things you’ll need to know:
• Build fast and light websites, utilizing plugins where necessary
• Conduct troubleshooting and testing to ensure code quality and functionality
• Think responsive (obviously)
• Think mobile (obviously)
• Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant programming languages

Who You Are:

Please be funny. Oh, and easy to get along with. Smart is good, but intuitive is better. Curious is best, as is putting in the time to know who our clients are and what we need to get done for them. We’ll want you to have a perspective and be ready to back up your work. The loudest voice doesn’t win here. The best idea does. We understand the freelance hustle — we’re built on freelance talent — and we know that you’ll be working elsewhere. We respect that, but we’ll need that respect reciprocated. Please communicate with us when you’re available and for how long because missing deadlines is the least good thing. (Liking the San Francisco Giants is the most least good thing. Just so you know.)

Farinella is a boutique branding, marketing, and communications agency in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’ve been around for 30 or so years, working with companies in dozens of industries. Our clients have included Fortune 100 monsters (in a good way) to Mom & Pop businesses. We are intentional in our new client balance because we do not want to get stale. Our team is spread across the United States, from Emeryville to New Orleans, Boise to Southern California.

The Details:

This is a freelance gig, but we’d love it if you became a regular part of our team. That’s how we will treat you from day one, anyway. That’s just our thing. We do not have a firm idea of how many hours a month we’ll need you. That’s a conversation to have, though. You’re right for this job if you have at least five years of experience. (Agency or in-house experience is a bonus.) You’ll need to demonstrate that you can quickly bounce between projects. Our agency is built on respect for all.
