Whatâs on the menu?
Reporting into the Product Development Manager, the Product Developer will work collaboratively with cross functional teams (Marketing, Procurement and Manufacturing) by leading the technical development of⊠product innovation, Value Engineering, Quality and Nutritional improvement and Technology Projects across the whole Weetabix portfolio. This really is an exciting role which is the forefront of the Weetabix products and really âmakes the difference!â
Requirements
The Key Ingredients (Summary not exhaustive)
- Planning, leading, and reporting bench-top, pilot plant and factory trials for sensory and consumer testing.
- Sourcing new ingredients, establishing the raw material specifications and evaluating the suppliersâ capability of meeting these specifications.
- Establishing/modifying finished product specifications for the new/improved products.
- Ensuring all aspects of food safety and legislative needs are met.
- Conducting factory trials and providing technical support to the factories during the launch of new/improved products.
- Working with the NPD Process team to develop new/modified process equipment and control systems required for the developed product and conduct experiments designed to develop new technology or understanding that will enable development of novel new/improved products.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Follow Company safety procedures as trained or instructed and to ensure you do not put yourself or anyone else at risk.
- Report any unsafe practice, accident, near-miss or potential hazard promptly to your Line or Department Manager so the appropriate action can be taken.
You will need;
- Entry level is degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or other relatable physical sciences.
- Experience in new recipe creation within an FMCG food business with some financial acumen.
- Risk management with a track record of bringing products to market.
- Broad knowledge of ingredient suppliers, nutrition and regulations on health claims, food labelling, food hygiene and safety and food additives.
- Reliable, organised, and adaptable, required to work such hours as are required to help deliver the programme.
- A team player, who demonstrates the Weetabix Values.
- Able to multi-task with a proven ability to work under oneâs own initiative and manage a portfolio of projects.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail to help underpin technical data, validity of reports and communication with key Stakeholders.
- Able to problem solve and get to the root cause of issues.
- Supervisory skills, setting work programs and training of specialized technical equipment & method.
- A passion for food & interest in developing breakfast cereal products.
- Always curious to find new and better ways of working.
