Main Purpose:
The Marketing Department plays an essential role in developing relationships with audiences, participants, the industry and our community. It is a fast-paced and creative environment with colleagues who are passionate about providing a high standard of innovative work. The marketing, communications and sales team work collaboratively with all other departments, as well as community and advertising partners, digital and design agencies, producers and creative teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on marketing campaigns for the Festival and Winter seasons, creating cost effective and innovative campaigns to achieve best financial results and reach new audiences for all productions and events
- Develop and oversee the production of marketing materials, ensuring the CFT brand is supported and deadlines are met
- Work with external graphic designers and printers to ensure all materials are bought competitively and on budget
- Implement print, digital and outdoor advertising campaigns within agreed budgets
- Liaise with producing partners and visiting companies, building strong relationships
- Manage campaign budgets and report on status as required
- Monitor and evaluate all activity to inform strategic planning and audience development targets
- Lead campaigns that support our organisational audience development objectives
- Oversee the work of the Marketing Officer and Communications Assistant in development of CFT’s 16-30 Prologue scheme
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our audience development activity
- With the Head of Marketing and Audience Insight Manager, contribute to CFT’s digital strategy, overseeing digital activity for campaigns
- Develop content for CFT’s website including trailers and other video content
- Work with the rest of the Marketing team to gain new audience insights through all of our social media platforms
- Develop Box Office initiatives as an integral part of the marketing operation
- Ensure that CFT’s CRM/Box Office system is used to maximum effect, to benefit the operation of ticket sales including database management
- Devise and deliver marketing strategies that support the work of our LEAP department in line with business and audience development objectives
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the LEAP team to raise awareness of this important strand of work
- Line manage and support the development of the Marketing Officer and Communications Assistant, ensuring they work efficiently and productively within clear guidelines
- Oversee the rota and time sheets for the part-time Distribution Officer to ensure they’re utilised to best effect on a seasonal basis
- Lead on specific projects as required to help shape and implement initiatives as part of CFT’s commitment to attracting new and diverse audiences
- Attend first previews, press nights and other events as appropriate
- Represent CFT as appropriate at industry events presenting case studies of work
Person Specification:
Essential criteria:
- Proven track record of achievement in a similar arts marketing environment
- Proven experience of creating and executing marketing strategies
- Proven experience of using and creating digital content as part of a marketing campaign
- Excellent copywriting, presentational and communication skills
- A flexible approach to work and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a track record of delivery under pressure
- A collaborative team player with management experience, able to inspire, connect and work in partnership with others internally and externally as well as working on own initiative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work within defined budget parameters and report on budget status
- Experience of working and collaborating with graphic designers
- A passion for theatre and live arts
- Interest in and commitment to making theatre accessible to all community sectors, and to CFT’s Equal Opportunities Policy
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of working with a producing theatre
- Advanced knowledge of digital marketing developments
- Experience in digital systems such as website CMS, Dotmailer and social media platforms
- Experience of using a CRM/Box Office ticketing system such as Spektrix or Tessitura for marketing purposes
Further information:
This post is part of Chichester Festival Theatre’s Marketing Department and is based at Chichester. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 10am – 6pm, although some degree of flexibility will be required according to workload and will include occasional evening and weekend working. There will be some travel outside of Chichester, mainly to London.
