Role:

Perform electric guitar over a band backing track (and eventually a full band).

Perform acoustic guitar at smaller, duo shows.

Minimum Requirements:

• Communication - No ghosting. Responds in timely manner.
• Agreeable - Zero drama.
• Reliable - Remembers instructions and shows up on time.
• Able and willing to perform metal and 90% originals in a setlist.
• Within a decent commute of Temple, TX (Waco - Austin region)

Preferred Qualification:

Prior experience performing with bands on the rock and/or country scene.

Bonus Qualification:

Ability to perform with a looper.

Pay:

Each performance’s pay will be divided evenly among Garrett, the booking manager, and all involved band members. In the event of a gig paying less than most others, Garrett may forego a certain amount to make sure the band is covered. The minimum pay should be in the range of $100-150 per show.

Live Performances:

Due to family obligations, there are no full-length tours in the pipeline. However, while 80-90% of shows will be within the Waco/Temple/Austin area, there will be occasional road trips (which are typically a blast for the band).

Dealbreakers:

• Shows a pattern of instigating arguments with other band members
• Attempts to dictate the setlist (we are open to suggestions and fun additions to set lists, but when guitarists want to add or subtract songs before learning the planned material, that becomes a problem).
• Instigates political debates among band members (we typically keep conversations apolitical for the sake of band unity).
• Causes bandmates to feel uncomfortable or threatened.
• Is involved with hard drugs.
• Displays a pattern of flakiness, tardiness, or general unreliability.
• Lied about his or her talent level or ability to perform.
• Backs out of enough gigs to be a liability.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Garrett Smith Music requires all performance venues to sign an agreement, certifying that the performance location is a safe environment for women. Band members are instructed to keep a safe watch over our dancers, and not to make passes at them. We operate as a respectful unit, and inappropriate treatment of personnel will not be tolerated.
