Job Description:

Envisionit, an award-winning digital marketing agency based in Chicago, is seeking a Contract/Freelance Web Developer with deep experience in Wordpress. This role will work remotely and collaborate with a team of UX, creatives and project managers via virtual tools, as a part-time, ongoing need in Q1 2024.

We are looking for someone with flexibility to freelance on multiple engagements as needed (estimated 5-15 hours/week), based on our in-house team’s bandwidth. We ask that any freelancers we work with are available 9am - 5pm CST for questions/meetings that may arise.

Responsibilities:

• Work in custom WordPress themes according to client specifications
• Be comfortable working on existing websites - able to jump in and work within someone else’s code
• Implement advanced features with PHP using Custom Post Types and Advanced Custom Fields PRO (ACF)
• Customize front-end layouts with custom HTML and CSS to create unique user experiences
• Collaborate with our project management, design and development teams to ensure project requirements are met
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing WordPress sites
• Optimize website performance for speed and efficiency

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in WordPress theme development
• Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with .git version control and migrating WP sites in order to work on site locally
• Experience with package management such as npm, gulp, scss and webpack
• Extensive experience with Advanced Custom Fields PRO (ACF) plugin
• Knowledge of best practices in website performance, security and maintenance
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
• Portfolio of previous work demonstrating expertise in custom WordPress theme development
