Job Description:

To design, direct, coordinate and produce visual materials for Client and Client affiliates in a variety of mediums including books, magazines, brochures, physical displays, posters, and electronic mediums including web design, electronic presentations, and multimedia products. The Designer is an integral team member who also provides art direction, proof checks, outsourcing management, image manipulation, job bidding, and direct customer consultation. The position requires a thorough knowledge of typography, type design, form and color theory, proportion and balance, photographic and computer imaging techniques, electronic layout skills, and exhibit/display knowledge.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Design Technology, or related field from an accredited university, college, or school of design
• Two years of employment experience in graphic design
• Portfolio required for review
• Thorough knowledge of typography, type design, form and color theory, proportion and balance, photographic and computer imaging techniques, electronic layout skills, exhibit/display knowledge, and experience with Unit specific software programs
• Flexibility, resourcefulness, and strong project management and interpersonal skills
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Ability to work independently and give/receive clear and concise direction
• Excellent problem-solving skills

Additional Information:

• Contract position for a minimum of 6 months
• Location: 205 Third Avenue SW Rochester, MN 55905
• Only specific software required is Adobe Suite
• Estimated 20 hours per week, largely onsite with flexibility for remote work
• Organizational relationships: Receives direction from Division Chair, Section Head, and Unit Head/Art Director. May receive technical direction from project manager or more senior staff as assigned.
