Job Description:

CBS Texas is seeking a freelance creative producer/editor to help grow their news brand through innovative and effective marketing. The ideal candidate will believe in the power of local journalism to make a positive impact on their community. They will be responsible for generating daily brand marketing on both linear and digital platforms, with a focus on driving engagement and viewership. Collaboration with the news team and all levels of staff is essential.

Responsibilities include:

• Writing, producing, and editing daily marketing messages
• Working directly with reporters and anchors to market news content
• Contributing to daily news planning meetings
• Generating and posting creative social media messaging
• Assisting with other department projects and station community events

Requirements:

• A passion for local journalism and serving the community
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce effective marketing
• Teamwork mentality with great interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with news producers, on-air personalities, and production staff
• Strong copywriting skills for broadcast and social media
• Experience with Facebook and YouTube platforms
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced news environment and meet deadlines
• Videography, lighting, and overall production skills are a plus
• Advanced knowledge of Premiere editing
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, iNEWS, and WideOrbit are a plus
• 2+ years of experience working in news marketing is preferred
