Job Description:

CBS News Texas is seeking a freelance creative producer/editor to help grow our news brand through innovative and effective marketing. The ideal candidate is passionate about local journalism and believes in its power to make communities better places to live. They will be responsible for generating daily brand marketing on both linear and digital platforms, focusing on driving engagement and viewership. This role will involve collaborating with the news team and other staff members to create compelling marketing messages. The freelance creative producer/editor will report to the Promotion Manager and work with a small team to market the news product and brand differentiators on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

• Write, produce, and edit daily marketing messages to grow the brand
• Work with reporters and anchors to authentically market the news content
• Attend and contribute to daily news planning meetings
• Generate and post creative social media messaging and OTT marketing to drive viewership
• Assist with other department projects including brand development and content creation
• Assist with station community events and activations

Requirements:

• A passion for local journalism and serving the community
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce effective marketing with conversational messaging
• Teamwork mentality with great interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively with on-site news producers, on-air personalities, and production staff
• Strong copywriting skills for broadcast and social media
• Experience with Facebook and YouTube platforms
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced news environment and manage deadlines
• Videography, lighting, and overall production skills are a plus
• Advanced knowledge of Premiere editing
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, iNEWS, and WideOrbit a plus
• 2+ years of experience in news marketing preferred
