Job Description

The Facilities and Commercial Engineering group is seeking candidates to join our team as a Senior Designer/Project Manager. We are a diverse group with inhouse engineering and completing numerous projects throughout the year. We are looking for a self-motivated member who works hard, communicates well, is eager to learn and complies with Company standards, is a team player and ensures projects run smoothly. Facilities maintains and manages multiple buildings on and off the Columbia Generation Station campus, their mechanical, electrical systems, above ground and underground utilities which require design and engineering support. Designers play a crucial role in supporting renovation, remodel, and modification of these systems by applying their designer and project management skills.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and three years of highly technical design experience sufficient to provide design knowledge of mechanical and electrical system, structure, and construction documentation, design, and controlling standards and regulations. 8+ years of design experience in commercial projects. Preparation of construction documents in AutoCAD, minimum 8+ years’ experience.
  • Proficiency in various software systems: including, Sketch up or other 3d modeling software, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Adobe Professional, Excel, Outlook & Power point.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability for writing in a clear and understandable manner. Strong problem-solving and leadership skills and understanding of the design process. Highly organized with superb attention to detail Creating designs using AutoCAD; create edit and modify detailed 2D and 3D drawings and designs using AutoCAD. Basic knowledge of the applicable building codes. Working knowledge of interfacing disciplines including facilities maintenance and operations, regulations and standards controlling design and documentation, task estimating, and scheduling techniques. Highly developed design ability to provide the foundation from which to direct and control the solution of the most complex design problems. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the project team to develop innovative design concepts and solutions
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D models, renderings, and animations using software such as Rhinoceros 3D, SolidWorks, Sketchup, and AutoCAD
  • Utilize design software such as Bluebeam to review and mark up project documents
  • Assist in the development of construction drawings and specifications
  • Conduct research on materials, finishes, and building codes to inform design decisions
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations to communicate design concepts and progress
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure project requirements are met
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field
  • Proficiency in design software including Rhinoceros 3D, SolidWorks, Sketchup, and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of building codes and regulations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Grasshopper for parametric design
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles
  • Familiarity with virtual reality (VR) technology for architectural visualization

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $75.66 per hour

Schedule: 10 hour shift
