Job Description:

This Data Scientist position in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh will focus on data science for science, health, people, and environment. Responsibilities include raising awareness of data science methods, applying cutting-edge tools to solve real-world problems, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects, and facilitating collaboration between different schools within the university.

Requirements:

• Masters degree in a quantitative subject (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Statistics)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a data science role
• Expertise in managing, structuring, and analyzing various types of data
• Experience in developing, implementing, and deploying statistical methods and machine learning models
• Proficiency in statistical languages like R or Python
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage workload effectively
• Willingness to learn new techniques and address new problems presented by domain experts

Additional Information:

• The salary for this role is currently £37,099 to £44,263 per annum, with a planned increase to £39,347 to £46,974 from Spring 2024
• This is a full-time position for 35 hours per week, initially fixed for 36 months with potential for extension
