About the Role: My Code is seeking a skilled Jr Art Director to join our diverse team of multicultural storytellers. As the Jr Art Director, Branded Content and Design, you will drive creative development and direction for branded social, video, and photo campaigns, create graphic packages for campaigns and My Code brands, and steward client campaigns into post-production and publishing. This is a vital role, translating our brands and our client’s brands into compelling design and content that effectively communicates messages to multicultural and diverse audiences. We are seeking an individual who excels in leading emotive and branded content, demonstrating the ability to take creative ownership and successfully drive projects to completion. With a background in multicultural content, branded content, and docu-style storytelling, you will utilize your expertise to tell compelling stories and create captivating graphic assets. You will work closely with the Strategy teams and Director of Production, providing direction to photographers, cinematographers, editors, writers, and other team members. Your role will involve leading and directing photo shoots, video shoots, and creative and pre-production meetings. In this role, your creative mindset, attention to detail, and expertise in visual problem-solving will be instrumental in delivering exceptional results. This position is temporary and will begin in April and go through the end of June. This is a remote position that may require travel. A link to a portfolio is required for consideration. Responsibilities:

  • Effectively translate a client’s distinct brand and personality into digital media that tells culturally relevant stories.
  • Art direct complex multi-day video or photo shoots on location.
  • Execute creative work from development to final execution, within deadlines, providing regular qualitative reviews and approvals. This includes providing direction for post-production editing, coloring/sound, and creating motion graphics.
  • Lead and co-lead client calls, confidently representing creative decisions and effectively communicating them.
  • Work with Director of Production and Producers to formulate clear and thoughtful production strategies to ensure consistency and accuracy to client brand standards, messaging guides, campaign concepts, audience personas, and strategies.
  • Elevate creative concepts and design approaches to move beyond the generic to be more emotive, attractive, and engage to a variety of multicultural, intersectional audiences.
  • Consult with internal teams regarding client needs, team capacity, scoping, pricing, scheduling, and strategies for content creation.
  • Collaborate with designers and strategists to produce concepts, storyboards, and wireframes.
  • Work with Director of Production to source creative crew and production companies.
  • Provide feedback to team members that is constructive and inspires excellent work.
  • Some travel required.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in media, publishing or creative agency
  • Client facing experience and must feel comfortable walking through concepts.
  • Passionate about video, social, art, and design.
  • An eye for cinematic and emotional connection.
  • Experience with photo & video storyboarding and ideating assets for use on social media, websites, and a variety of platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of lighting and composition.
  • A keen sense of what makes video storytelling good and what is appropriate for a wide range of clients, diverse consumers, and target audiences.
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud design and video products.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills, both in front of clients and between colleagues and internal teams.
  • Self-motivation and organizational skills are a must.
  • The resilience to work across a number of projects simultaneously and balance a variable workload.
  • The ability to follow processes and achieve deadlines.
  • The ability to inspire confidence during client interactions.
  • The insight to identify problems and take the initiative to help rectify them.

Additional Information

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $30-$50. The salary is determined on a wide range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
