I have worked in publishing since 2001, in increasingly design-focused roles. I spent 17 years at my last full-time employer, Incisive Media, for the final decade of those 17 years I was art editor. For the past year and a half I have been working as a freelance graphic designer for a number of clients. I have sound knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Lightroom, Quark, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Acrobat, Mag+, App Studio (formerly Press Run), Figma, Workiva, Ceros, Crello, Wix. Having worked in the publishing industry for many years I have seen many programmes come and go as the demands of the industry change and been able to adapt to all of them. I am confident that with hard work and focus I can pick up new ways of working very quickly, and with most of the new programmes I have learned I was tasked with tutoring colleagues how to use it, once I had got to grips with it. During my role at Incisive Media, in addition to my weekly role as art editor on Investment Week, I designed, launched and art directed the quarterly Multi-Asset Review, and a number of other supplements and brochures for Professional Adviser and Professional Pensions. I also took control of Investment Week’s redesign in 2020 and its resize to a smaller format. The resize was done so the magazine could hold true to its sustainability focus and be dispatched in paper envelopes instead of poly bags. During my 17 years at Incisive Media I was nominated for the Incisive Awards “production person of the year” three times, and “designer of the year” twice. I also was on the board for the Incisive Media Foundation, which is a company initiative to raise money for specific charities each year. Incisive Media closed all its print titles in March 2022 and moved to website only and as such my role was made redundant. I am currently working freelance as a graphic designer/illustrator/graphic artist and enjoying being self-employed and being able to broaden my experience with different types of client. In my spare time I volunteer for animal rights, climate and social justice groups, as an illustrator and designer, making campaign graphics for social media, banners, leaflets, posters and stickers. I am a keen open water marathon swimmer and also sing in a rock choir.
