Watch as a turtle dives into a reef littered with hand drawn plants. The colour pallet is heavily inspired by the vibrant colours found in the sea. Our audio a response to the tranquility of the scene.
Coral reefs date back to around 240 million years, and are a place of wonder and discovery. They are an underwater ecosystem formed of colonies of coral polyps, and are surprisingly classed as animals, not plants. The coral reefs are home to around 25% of the world's marine life, over 4000 different species rely on them for survival! They offer turtles protection and shelter in many ways: refuge for hatchlings, a location for nesting sites and a place to hide when under threat from predators.
Corals and algae have a symbiotic relationship. As ocean temperatures become warmer they struggle to survive; in some cases rather than bleaching in the heat some corals have begun to emit vibrant colours.

We reworked our digitally painted concept artwork to create a piece of vector based motion design, with a more focused message: to love your boobs!
According to The World Health Organisation, in 2020, 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer, and globally, 685000 people passed away. End of 2020, 7.8 million women survived after their diagnosis. Women fall victim to breast cancer across the world and it does not discriminate. Unfortunately it is now the most common cancer.
Whilst the subject matter is serious, we hope this piece is a fun and tactful reminder to check your boobs and increase breast cancer awareness. We envisage this animation could be used commercially, possibly as a social media advert, by including a charity/service logo alongside a hyperlink to more information.

To the Disco is an animation inspired by a 2D mixed media illustration. In this shot we watch as turtles race across the screen through pulsating sci-fi rings.
The turtles and rings are modelled, rigged and animated in 3D. Hand painted textures are applied to the turtles; meanwhile, the rings are given a physical material of translucent green glass. The background is animated in 2D and reflects the waves and ripples created by the commotion of the creatures.
The audio behind To the Disco was developed by Will Curry. A range of synthesizers create the melody, rising with turtles to a disco beat.

The audio behind whale song was developed by Will Curry. A whale calls out to the sea, accompanied by a whimsical tune. Meanwhile a noise ticks in the background as if you are making your way through a flip-book. You can almost feel the pages.
The whale is modelled, rigged and animated in 3D, with hand painted textures. The splashes and bubbles are animated in 2D. We developed the look of this shot to maintain the 2D qualities of the hand drawn design and reflect the spontaneity of ink splashes. Finally we added a paper texture to the composition.
