Hey, I'm Joel - a videographer and motion designer based in the UK, specialising in branded content, short documentary films and social ads. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved making films and playing around with cameras. It started with my brothers and I making goofy home-made blockbuster imitations with my Dad's hi8 camcorder as children. Now 20 years later, I have six years of experience as director and co-founder of Woolgather Film Productions & SWAMP Films, my latest short doc 'Frankenbiking' has been selected for Bicycle Film Festival, London Lift-Off Festival & Kendal Mountain Festival 2023, I have a 1st class degree in Filmmaking from the Manchester School of Art where I received several awards and I've had the pleasure of creating content for recognised clients such as NOW, eBay, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pringles, Meta, American Express, Toyota, Colgate, Paddy Power, H&M, and many more. Over the last few years the majority of my industry experience has been post-production work through online agencies, utilising editing, motion graphics and creative direction to create short form social ads for dozens of well-known brands. Now as a freelance creative I enjoy combining my broad skillset to direct and execute projects with attention to detail and creative flair. With a passion for nature, wildlife, sport and the outdoors, I’m happiest exploring new places or subjects with a camera in my hand and a meaningful story to tell. In spring 2024 I will be completing a marine research, conservation and divemaster training program in Indonesia - opening up a new world for me to explore and beginning a lifelong dream of becoming an underwater camera operator. I would particularly love to work with brands on outdoor, adventure, nature & wildlife projects, however I am open to work of all kinds.
