Animation Concept and Storyboard

Purpose of animation
Explaining our concept and encouraging people to be interested in traveling with us
To be used in Justice Travel crowdfunding campaign, at events, and featured on website

Underlying themes
Travel as transformation
Reality of human rights violations and human rights activists - faces and places
Illustrate Justice Travel model (tours, profit sharing, advocacy) within compelling storyline

Visuals
Warm without being boring :)
Simple colors on light background
Mixture of rough/sketch 2D animation and recorded video (retouched, to some extent)

Rough Storyboard
Bored woman at home scrolling through tablet, terrible news on faux facebook - Trump, war, climate change, sexual assault - sighing as she goes
Caged bird in her house (metaphor + logo)
Never quite see her face, but something distinctive in her hair/clothes to repeat throughout the video
She comes across video for Justice Travel, zoom into video - introducing concept in full color
Zoom out and she is on a plane landing in a foreign country, looking out window - a bit more color/detail than first animation,
Animation goes out window into country - series of 2-3 short lively scenes of tour activities, as audio from recorded video continues
Possible scenes: visiting a beautiful green mountainous area, sharing a meal in a rural community, dancing/music, talking with an activist, tour of older city
Each scene ends with her snapping a photo, which turn into real photos
Activist talking, she takes a video, zoom into video as he talks about issue (likely land rights), zoom out and back her home, activist is talking to her on faux skype/facetime as she & friends prepare posters for an advocacy event they are organizing, she seems happy and active, home seems sunnier than in first scene, pan past justice travel poster over to bird cage (so that cage is above poster in the shot), cage open with bird sitting next to cage, bird takes flight, transition to animated version of logo, writing appears below ‘Engage with your world’
