The Research and Writing Associate will assist with research, writing and copy editing. S/he will work primarily in the Research & Development department, but may also support other areas. The Associate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive and accurate research, compiling and generating content, writing white papers and reports, proofreading and copy editing documents, and assisting in developing presentations and communications. S/he will work closely with other writers and researchers, senior leadership, and external sources. The Associate will be responsible for helping research and write material on business and technology, in the context of the global insurance industry.

The Associate will support ACORD’s efforts to provide measurable, actionable, industry-leading insights to our members and the insurance industry at large. Our in-house R&D team provides data and subject matter expertise based on a variety of research methods, collects and analyzes information, and uses it to develop strategic points of view across those topics most important to industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Research, compile, draft, and copy edit white papers, reports, and other R&D output, based on both original and acquired research.
• Assist with preparing research, remarks, slideshows, and other content to be presented to senior leadership, or to be presented by senior leadership to industry audiences.
• Assist with writing and copy editing press releases, social media, marketing materials, web pages, and other public-facing communications.
• Respond to urgent and time-sensitive requests in support of the research process.
• Conduct research related to the business and technology dimensions of the global insurance industry.
• Monitor emerging trends and developments in the insurance space and related areas to help inform the R&D department’s work.
• Support all departments in the collection, analysis, and reporting of results data. Support opportunities for data-based decision-making and evidence-based storytelling.
• Work with researchers, writers, graphic designers, and senior staff to produce both print and digital research output.
• Provide general support and assistance for R&D and other departments as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
