Copywriter in Chicago, IL, USA

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Copywriter to support our Marketing team in drafting and editing content for a variety of print, web and information graphic pieces connected to an annual report style project. Microsoft Office proficiency is required. Adobe Creative Suite proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning meetings
• Conduct interviews with key stakeholders to gather information needed to develop copy
• Synthesize copy drafts and notes created by different people into a single, cohesive narrative
• Conduct research to find supporting information and material needed to develop copy
• Draft original copy based on research and notes to match the requested material format
• Edit and proofread copy for accuracy and clarity
• Work with translation team to have copy translated
• Work with graphic design and web team to ensure proper placement and implementation of copy

Qualifications

• 6 or more years of experience working for a marketing or creative industry agency, in house department, or freelancing for a large organization
• Experience working on high visibility projects with large distribution quantities
• Experience synthesizing information at various stages of completion into a cohesive final draft.
• Experience write long-format copy for multi-page booklets and annual reports
• Experience writing short-format copy for posters, flyers infographics and other collateral
• Experience writing full web page copy
• Spanish language skills a plus
