Role:

Christie’s marketing team is searching for a dynamic and visionary Associate Creative Director to join our fast-paced marketing team. As the Associate Creative Director, you will inspire our creative team through innovative strategies, ideas, and design concepts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and revolutionize the creative marketing direction at Christie’s, creating cross-media campaigns and immersive experiences for Christie’s Live, Online, and Private Sales. We seek a passionate leader adept at managing internal stakeholders, while being hands-on in design, fostering a sustainable, inclusive, and collaborative environment that empowers designers to deliver unparalleled luxury client experiences.

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team of creative professionals, nurturing their growth through guidance and feedback.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive atmosphere that champions teamwork and creative ideation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including account marketing managers, content, and art departments, to understand project objectives, target audience, and creative briefs.
  • Drive the creative concepting process, brainstorming and ideating innovative ideas and solutions that align with project goals and client expectations.
  • Build dynamic campaign ideas across brand touchpoints throughout Christie’s ecosystem, including but not limited to print, social, digital media, .com, exhibition, video, editorial and OOH.
  • Develop digitally native and dynamic campaign solutions to demonstrate best in class thinking.

Creative Excellence:

  • Oversee the execution of creative projects, collaborating with marketing to ensure high-quality deliverables that are on time, on budget, and meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Collaborate as required with our in-house Strategy, Content, Proposal and Creative teams across EMEA, Asia, Digital Design and Development teams to help deliver global projects.
  • Maintain a personal network of creative and vendor partners to recommend and refer as needed to assist with execution and key workflow periods.
  • Develop and present creative concepts, visual designs, and storytelling strategies to clients and internal stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind your ideas.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and creative best practices, and incorporate them into our work to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Actively participate in new business pitches and presentations, showcasing our creative capabilities and contributing to business growth.

Brand:

  • Ensure brand consistency by adhering to and developing our global Style Guide, overseeing its application across all design outputs in the Americas, and driving industry-leading work.
  • Take ownership of design templates and style guide to maintain a cohesive client journey, ensuring alignment in all creative touchpoints.
  • Be an external brand guardian, safeguarding Christie’s through consistent use of our logotype, templates, copy, and tone of voice guidelines across strategic partner touchpoints.

Exhibitions:

  • Partner with Exhibition Creative Lead to shape the design look and feel of our flagship auction and salerooms and drive a client-centric approach to in-person experiences through a knowledge of the latest technological and digital advancements.
  • Proactively drive innovation by utilizing client insights and visitor metrics to better understand spatial effectiveness for client/press events, simultaneously online and in-person.

Content:

  • Innovate applications for social media platforms, including Instagram Live, Reels & TV, TikTok, etc. Collaborate closely with content teams to formulate groundbreaking digital-first campaign and platform concepts for brand and campaign launches.
  • Remain well-versed in social media trends, algorithms, and best practices to continually enhance and refine the design of social media templates.
  • Maintain brand coherence across social media platforms while customizing content to align with the specific audience and platform requisites.
  • Contribute to shaping a captivating vision for video and photo content, working collaboratively with specialists and content leads.
  • Take the initiative to suggest and create dynamic editing techniques that optimize content across various channels.

Motion Graphics:

  • Lead captivating motion graphics development for digital campaigns, social media, websites, and videos.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to design motion graphics in alignment with campaign goals and brand guidelines.
  • Utilize industry-leading software and tools (Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, Blender) to craft visually arresting animations.
  • Stay at the forefront of motion graphics trends and techniques, introducing cutting-edge elements into Christie’s creative output.
  • Integrate motion graphics seamlessly into video content in collaboration with the video production team, ensuring a polished final product.
  • Provide art direction to animators and designers, ensuring motion graphics align with the overall creative vision.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, content, and social media, to craft compelling motion graphics that adeptly communicate core messages and captivate the intended audience.
  • Curate and manage a repository of motion graphics assets and templates, facilitating effortless reuse and scalability across diverse projects and campaigns.
  • Uphold brand uniformity and steadfastly adhere to visual identity guidelines throughout all motion graphics projects, while simultaneously exploring new dimensions of creativity and innovation.

Candidate:

  • 10+ years of design experience in client or agency roles.
  • Exceptional presentation skills engaging key stakeholders and leadership.
  • Proficient in brand development and supervision.
  • Skilled in art direction for photoshoots and video production.
  • Familiarity with content production team procedures.
  • Strong typography foundation (screen and print).
  • In-depth understanding of digital trends, omni-channel marketing, and social networks.
  • Proven track record in high-quality content design for premium brands with a strong portfolio showing visual and interactive design work.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro, Sketch, Figma and other digital tools.
  • Innate innovator capable of translating creative ideas into commercial success.
  • Strong sense of ownership, ensuring consistent design standards.
  • Effective leadership in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change in large organizations, emphasizing process and outcomes.
  • Significant experience managing agile creative teams within luxury, art, or fashion retail industries.
